Are there large Expat communities on the coast? How do find an Expat Roommate?

Hello Suzan and Expats in Ecuador

I have 2 questions:
1. Are there any large Expat communities in the coastal areas of Ecuador?
2. How would I find a Expat roommate in Ecuador?

I’m a divorced white male currently living in San Diego, California.
When I retire to Ecuador in 18 to 24 months, I hope to live along the coast and maybe find an Expat roommate.

There are several expat communities on the coast ranging from small pockets in little coastal towns to larger groups in Salinas and Manta. To find a roommate before coming to Ecuador you could try posting on some of the Facebook expat groups. Ecuador Expats covers the whole country, but there are some coast-specific ones like Ruta del Sol Mates and Salinas Stuff.
