I was reading this section of the Insider. We are going to Salinas, Manta, Cuenca and Quito (about 4 days in each location). Can we wear shorts? My “significant other” boyfriend pretty much only owns shorts and jeans. What can we wear in these locations. I can wear slacks, jeans, “peddle pushers”. We do not plan any “business” meetings during this visit. We will be meeting with 3 Pathfinder contacts to do a few-hour tour and look at a couple of properties, but other than that……will mostly be hiring drivers to drive us around to see some sights, eating out almuerzo and dinner. Not sure what else. Do we need to go shopping before we travel?

Shorts and jeans will be just fine. Shorts are par for the course on the coast and jeans or slacks are typically what I wear up in the mountains. Typically this is what the local Ecuadorians wear as well unless they’re business professionals at work.
