How are any Canadians dealing with the fluctuating value of the US$?  It’s been pretty good for us down there lately, but what accomodations do you make for exchange?  Do you have any tricks for minimizing exchange fees when it comes to withdrawing cash from ATMs?

I’m not a Canadian but the trick to minimizing ATM fees is to choose a bank that doesn’t charge those fees. We’ve chosen Capital One for that reason. I think Citi bank and some others may have accounts that don’t charge foreign transaction or foreign ATM fees. A Google search ought to turn up that info for you.

Any Canadians out there who care to answer this?

Thanks, Suzan, for throwing that out there…there seems to be many more Americans on this site, with their own unique issues.  I’ll do a bit of research and see what I come up with.  I’m actually in banking so I have a fairly good idea about fees etc, but will need to research the competition a bit more.  If I find out anything useful I’ll post it.
