dangerous animals

In searching on the internet, I have found very little to be concerned about dangerous animals, mostly due to being in the Oriente, which is not a place I want to be. However, I did see that the fer-de-lance is in the agricultural areas of the highlands and can be seen every now and then. My concern are my dogs, they will disturb this little creature. We are looking more towards Cuenca and the surrounding valleys to make our permanent residence. So the question to you should I not be considering Yunguilla area and staying more towards Quenca?

Angela, I have never heard of a fer-de-lance being anywhere near animals. Or in the highlands. I’m not saying your research is wrong, but I’ve never heard that. I think the best advice for you is to come for a visit. I don’t think you can realistically make any plans about where you will live without seeing it firsthand for yourself.
