    What is the stability of electricity throughout the country? Do you lose power every now and then or regularly? And the answer to this question will probably answer the next. Generators, needed or not?

    Can’t speak for rural locations, but here in Cuenca this is not a concern.

    No, we don’t worry about it in Quito or Cotacachi ether. A few years ago there was a major drought and since much of Ecuador’s power is hydro-generated, they did enforce some planned blackouts for a couple of weeks. But you always knew about these ahead of time and they only lasted a few hours so it wasn’t a big deal. And since then I think they brought more online so there have been no issues.
