Greetings! My wife and I will be in Cuenca Wednesday July 9 – Monday, July 21 and will have some flexible time around planned events, visits, etc. Just wanted to check to see if these locations and times were still viable currently for expat get-togethers. The post below was from September 2012. We would love to visit with some expats while we are there and would especially love to visit with someone that was living there with kids. We have a 10 year-old son and 12 y.o. daughter.

It is looking like our best flex times may be Wednesday evening, July 10 (but I did not see anything on that day) and Thursday, July 11 through Saturday, July 13. Overall, it looks like Thursday may be the best, as we are meeting others in Cuenca and have not coordinated plans yet on Friday and Saturday.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

    Thanks,
    Shane

Hopefully Edd will weigh in on this and let you know if these dates/places are still valid. Or you can email him at Cuenca@internationalliving.com

I sure can. California Kitchen–closed. Zoe–closed. Eucalyptus & Akelarre–nice places to eat but not “gringo hangouts.” Try Roux Bistro & San Sebas Cafe in addition to DiBacco, Fabiano’s, and Inca.

Thanks! So, if this one is still going on, it may fit the schedule pretty well.
Thursday, 5 – 8 p.m., DiBacco´s Italian Restaurant and Bar (Gringo Newcomers Night), 9 – 61 Calle Tarqui at Bolivar

If that time is no longer valid, we will just wing it on the recommended places.

    Thanks,
    Shane

    Latest from DiBacco—

REMINDER: The restaurant is open (generally) three days a week:
Tuesdays, for Gringo Night and Newbies Night, we open at 4:00.
Thursdays we are open for lunch from 12:00 to 3:00. Come enjoy a delightful soup & salad, or other lighter fair, for under $5, instead of a plateful of rice. The WIT group will be meeting here from 12:30 to 2:30.
Thursday evenings we open at 5:00. This will be special events night, including one-day/night art classes, Texas Hold’em Poker, and live music.
NOTE: This Thursday evening, July 3rd, we will be closed so Martha can go to Guayaquil to pick up her husband, Ed, who will be visiting for a few weeks.
Saturdays we open at 12:00 and stay open all day. Pilsener Grandes are $1.50 and house wine is $2. It’s Fun & Games day, and we have Scrabble, Canasta, (or any other card game) and Mexican Train Dominoes on hand.

In anticipation of visiting Cuenca, Ecuador this fall 2014, we would like to find out about any blogs or other formats where we can meet and hopefully chat/talk with other expats, and plan to maybe meet some of them when we visit Cuenca. What are the websites where we can meet/chat with expats in Cuenca?

    Best wishes,
    Dale & Darla

Sign up for GringoTree & Gringo Post, two online bulletin boards for Cuenca that will tell you everything that is going on.
