New Year's and Business

My wife and I are coming to Ecuador for six weeks starting December 11th (yep in 48 hours). Can anyone tell me when businesses(ie real estate) will re-commence after the New Year celebration. From what I have read they do some serious celebrating for this holiday. I am sure we will join in as well.

Whether a business is open on New Year’s Day or not will usually just depend on the individual business. My guess is that most real estate offices will be closed on January 1st, but almost everything is up and running as normal by the 2nd.
