    Just returned from trip to Ecuador. During our trip we spent 4 days in Otavalo/Cotacachi area and fell in love with the area. We would like to return to this area, spend some more time and possibly look at some property. Any suggestions as to where to stay? Comments re living in this area? Any info will be appreciated…thanks!

    There are some nice gated communities in both towns. You might start by staying at one of the hostels in either town… try Hostel Dona Esther in Otavalo and Mindala or La Cuadra in Cotacachi… or find a short-term rental.
