Retina Specialist

Can anyone find out for me if there are any Retina Specialists in Ecuador? My wife has macular degeneration, which has already cost her the sight in her left eye. She also has it in her right eye, but most of her sight has been preserved by regular treatments by a retina specialist near us. Last Sept/Oct, we spent 4 weeks in Panama. We found that there is only one such specialist in all of Panama. We are looking at a trip to Ecuador later this year or next year, and hoping there might be more services available. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Yes, there are several retinal specialists in Quito. We know two associated with Hospital Metropolitano. My husband was a patient of Dr. Gustavo Alvira who performed several retinal detachment surgeries.HIs office is in Edificio Meditropoli, a large medical complex across the street from the hospital.
