have a question, have been fortunate to spend 6 months in mexico on my Sailboat ( Nov to May approx) and than back to vancouver island west coast of Canada for the past 4 years. Now looking further afield and have Equador on “radar”. Perhaps a permanent home on the breach with sailboat anchored in a cove or bay out front. How realistic is this? Being a sailor I am self sufficient, additioinally in past life a general conrtractor and diesel mechanic ; so now much I can not build or repair. by reasearch the north coast offers most upside ?? Mexico has the hurican season but understand this is not the case in Equador?? Any assistance would be appreciated.

The best place to anchor a sailboat is either in the water at sheltered Bahia de Cararquez (very popular with sailors circumnavigating the area) or in the marina at Salinas. No hurricanes in Ecuador.
