Hello Jason, you said earlier that it is cheaper to pay extra charges at the airport as luggages overweight but I also heard that there is a DHL service close to Jaco at Los suenos hotel at Herradua. Is this service still available and recommendable at better prices ? Thanking you in advance for informations.

    Hi Christian,

From what I’ve been able to determine, the DHL office is no longer there. But there is another shipping company located in the Marina Village in Los Suenos: http://amexpusa.com

Mail Boxes Etc. (which acts on behalf of UPS and FedEx, I believe) also has several locations in San Jose, which is about 1.5 hours from Jaco: http://www.mailboxesetc.co.cr

Whether or not it’s cheaper or more expensive than bringing baggage really depends on size and weight – and the airline.

Thanks Jason, I probably had to tell you before that I’m living in Canada and these links are good for USA.. humm!

I think Mailboxes etc would probably still be able to help you out as they work internationally with FedEx and UPS. And I think it’s worth contacting the place in Playa Herradura to see if they might be able to help.

You could always have the item shipped regular mail to the Costa Rican post office in Jaco. But that might be a lengthy process.

Keep in mind that many airlines also ship cargo, including AirCanada.

One last thing… you might try contacting FedEx and UPS directly and explaining your situation. Perhaps they have a drop off location in Jaco or can arrange something for you.

    Hi Christian,

I’m in Jaco at the moment on a research trip. Turns out they do have a UPS location here right in the center of town. Phone number: 2643-1048. I’m not sure why there are not listed online as one of their locations in Costa Rica.

There is a location of Aerocasillas also, which is a shipping company / courier service: http://www.facebook.com/AerocasillasJaco
