When arriving in Quito in anticipation of applying for residency, is it necessary to get an actual T-3 stamp in my passport? Should I ask the customs agent for “una estampa”? On previous scouting trips, I have not had my passport actually stamped as I was only staying for several weeks. Customs just reviewed my travel docs and handed them back. I understand this may be a requirement when submitting my paperwork, which is otherwise all ready to go.

You will get that automatically when you enter. I’m sure you had your passport stamped on entry, they always stamp them.
