Hi Edd. I read somewhere that Puntonet limits you to 3 devices. I can’t find an answe on their website. Do you have any experience on this? Thanks.

    Hi Suzan,
What do you suggest for cell phone use in Ecuador. I have an iPhone, but am wondering if there is an easier/cheaper option for everyday use when running errands or being out and about.

We have an apartment all setup to rent in Cuenca and will start the residency visa paperwork as soon as we get there however, we have heard that customs and the airlines want to see a ticket showing that we have a plan for leaving Ecuador. What has your experience been and how would you suggest working around this? We, of course, don’t want to buy an airline ticket leaving Ecuador when we plan to stay in Ecuador.

    Hi Suzan-
We are headed to Cuenca at the end of October. We will be applying for residency there. We got our police and FBI checks sent in mid August because I was not sure how long they would take. They processed quickly and are dated mid August. Do you think we need to redo them so they are dated later?

Also- we have a 9 and 11 year old. Do they require background checks?

    Thanks,
    Ann

Hi Suzan. Thanks for doing this. The timing is great for us as we are moving down at end of October. My question is regarding bringing our first wave of stuff down as checked luggage.

We are each hoping to bring three bags/bins each with clothes, house supplies, electronics, kitchenware and musical instruments/recording gear. Is that going to be a problem with Ecuador customs since we can’t have official residency until we finish paperwork in Ecuador?

Have you been able to find quality mattresses at reasonable prices? Our bed is one thing that we really like but would prefer not to hassle with a shipping container if comfortable mattresses are readily available.

My wife and I are in our early 40’s and will be moving with our 2 kids (10 and 8). I have a couple questions that maybe you all can help me with…

    1. Are IESS and the public options available for all ages?
    2. Does anyone know if US citizens would be forced to pay the Obamacare penalties if they chose to Pay-as-you go?
    3. Does the US govt. recognize IESS and EC public options as adequate healthcare options? Meaning, would it satisfy the Obamacare requirements so that we wouldn’t have to pay the penalties?

How would you go about finding rental houses/apartments in Bahia?
