SUZAN HASKINSParticipant
Hi Ken, I’ll send an email to a vet I know living near Salinas and ask him to contact you.
SUZAN HASKINSParticipantLarry, email MIke at mikec7199@aol.com and he will send you a copy.
SUZAN HASKINSParticipantYes, we do the same on some property we own in Mexico. Taxes are $15 and we pay $50 to someone to pay them for us. You always pay for convenience, I suppose…
SUZAN HASKINSParticipantI figured she would be. Glad to hear it!
SUZAN HASKINSParticipantKaren, if you’re qualifying under the retiree visa, you need to show some kind of income. It can be from other sources; needn’t be social security.
SUZAN HASKINSParticipantIf you can’t pay online, you have two options: have a friend go pay for you. Wait until the next time you are in Cuenca. You get a discount for paying now. But it won’t cost you much to wait. In my case, for example, I might pay $50 this month as opposed to $53 in March and $58 in any month the rest of the year…
SUZAN HASKINSParticipantI inquired about it and was told the entire IL website is being overhauled and when that’s done in March, they’ll start working on this. But don’t hold me to that. 🙂
SUZAN HASKINSParticipantHello 000062462936, I have asked that question myself for than a few times. I HOPE someone is working on it!!
SUZAN HASKINSParticipantWell. .gob is the extension in a Spanish-speaking country. But sorry, I don’t know who to pay property taxes online. Maybe check with gringotree?
SUZAN HASKINSParticipantAndrea, I think the transfer company you mention is Operazuaytur: http://www.operazuaytur.com
I understand they’re not great with email, but try emailing Operazuaytur at reservas@operazuaytur.com and tell them you wan to rent the entire van. Write email in Spanish and English….
Another option is Eddie Remache at c.p.s2012@live.com. He offers a private service out of Cuenca, along with his brother, Freddie. One contact says that last year, Freddie, picked them up in Guayaquil (2 people and about six suitcases) and drove them to Cuenca for $100. And he supposedly answers emails promptly. (They’re Ecuadorians but, until a couple of years ago, lived their whole lives in the US and speak perfect English.)
Also Victor Ojeda, victorh0613@yahoo.com, does the drive in his car. You might see if he can accommodate you.
SUZAN HASKINSParticipantJames, if the 3-year rabies innoculation is good in the States, I think it is good in Ecuador. Maybe this will help: http://www.aphis.usda.gov/animal_welfare/pet_travel/pet_travel.shtml
SUZAN HASKINSParticipantHi James, I am afraid I don’t know. I’ll see if I can find out. But if you have the international health certificate you should be good… I think Edd was doing some research; let’s see what he says.
SUZAN HASKINSParticipantI’ve heard lots of good things about the transfer. Try these hotels:

She is on a professional visa and says it’s easy enough to get them… at least if you go through the process in Guayaquil. I think there are some additional tax reporting things you need to do if you go this route, but it’s certainly worth digging into. Dan’s email addreess is agua_plata@hotmail.com.
SUZAN HASKINSParticipantHI James, I think that needs to be notarized or apostilled, but I’ll ask Edd to respond. He knows the requirements better than I do.
