I was somewhat surprised to learn that Belize has a quite high murder rate-somewhere in the top20 worldwide- the USA is about 110. Detroit and a few other US cities are much worse the national average. Is Belize city the riskiest place in this regard? Our attention has been focused mostly on the area just south of the Mexican border not far from Chetumal . Is that area fairly safe? Guatemala of course isn’t far away, noting your comments about cross border banditos..
