Tamarindo is my home and a wonderful town. In fact, it will be featured in the May issue of International Living… where you can learn lots of useful tips for your stay.
If you’re only looking for a month, start your search as early as possible. Your best bet is to secure something using Airbnb or Vrbo. You can also reach out to a rental agency such as RPM Real Estate for help.
When looking for a vacation rental, it’s essential to consider the following: location (will you have a car?), security, cleanliness, and air conditioning. Keep those in mind as you browse the listings.
Holy Week is March 24 to March 30 in 2024. This is always a very busy time at the beach, and rentals are often a lot more expensive.
So, I suggest looking at prices now to get an idea of how it changes. You should also ask if you can get a better price for renting the entire month. A friend of mine operates this lodge on the way out of town, which could be an option.
To share a bit about long-term rentals in Tamarindo… there’s rarely anything under $2,000 plus utilities for a two-bedroom. Prices are more like $2,500 and up to $5,000 monthly for a three-bedroom.
Location and convenience always cost more. Some amenities to look for include parking, storage, an elevator, a generator for when the power goes off, a water tank for shortages, 24-hour security, and cameras.
In recent years, prices have gone up. Before the pandemic, I had a friend rent a condo in the Pacific Park community for $1,450 a month. Today, you can’t get anything there for less than $2,500 a month.
But sometimes you can get lucky and find studios or a one-bedroom for $1,200 to $1,500.
Another friend of mine just rented a one-bedroom at Luna Llena for $1,300. It’s a hotel, but they have an apartment for long-term rental.
